Invited bidders have been prequalified in accordance with Document 2021-548Q Prequalification of Tunnel Contractors for East to West Diversion Trunk Sewer, Contract 2, Region of Peel, Project 16-2291. The East to West Diversion Sanitary Trunk Sewer - Contract 2 includes the installation of approximately five (5) km of 2400mm diameter sewer divided into two (2) sections. Section one (1), approximately 3360m long, starts at Site seven (7) just north-east of the Creditview Road and Argentia Road intersection. The alignment of the sewer runs north along Creditview Road, crosses underneath the Highway 401 as it continues along Old Creditview Road, turns east with a 225m radius curve on Old Derry Road travelling through residential neighborhoods, and ends at Site five (5) after crossing Mavis Road. The second trunk sewer section, around 1,640m long, starts at Site two (2) located 20 m east of Dixie Road on Derry Road and continues east along Derry Road to east of Bramalea Road at Site one (1) which is just north of the Toronto Pearson International Airport. The 2400mm sanitary trunk sewer is to be installed within a pre-excavated tunnel situated between ten (10) to forty-five (45) metres below grade that will be constructed using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). There are three short microtunneling sections, one comprised of approximately 100m of 1500mm sewer pipe in farmland, one comprised of approximately 600m of 750 CPP watermain within a 1500mm tunnel crossing under the Highway 401 along Creditview Road and the third one with approximately 140m of 1950mm sewer pipe crossing under Highway 401 east of Creditview Road. The Project will also include tunneling shafts to facilitate access to the tunnel/sewer during construction and for future operations and maintenance, cast-in-place access chambers and diversion chambers, construction of shaft compounds, traffic management, erosion and sediment controls, and restoration of all construction areas.
